REMINDER: McLaren Park Concept & Design Meeting July 31

Posted in Events by Kim on July 23, 2010

What: Meet, Greet and Eat (BBQ included)
Where: Peru/Burrows St. Playground
Date: July 31
Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

From our friends at Help McLaren Park:

We’re having a community meeting concerning ideas parents might want to suggest to the design architect about what they want or like in a playground …
Please bring your own ideas with any pictures or photos on July 31 to submit to designer/architect Leslie Golden for her to incorporate in her design. Of course, please remember we are severely limited in capitol, so make sure your ideas aren’t too extravagant. I, for one, was thinking a concrete slide like that in Golden Gate Park (but not as large) would be cool but found out the cost of one is a lot higher than what we can afford. I think there will be cost break downs on all the equipment pictured but I am not sure. Hopefully we can find something of high quality and good design that will last many years to come …
On another note, some good news came to me just the other day. It looks like our kiosk, being built right now by Rec and Park, is almost done and we are looking at a mid-August installation date. Trilce and I would like to coincide the installation of the kiosk with the mosaic tile project of the bollards on Gambier. More information to follow on the topic.
Lastly, does anyone work or own a construction company that might want to donate their services? Two of the bollards on Gambier need straightening and it looks like RPD is short staffed and backed up as always. Maybe someone can donate their services in the interest of time so we can put the mosaic tile work to good use.
